He really should know better than to bug Mr. Putzofkowitski while he’s watching his stories.

My favorite science fiction has always been about normal people in space. Too much of our sci-fi is informed by Star Trek, with dudes in uniforms seeking out new life with a rulebook in one hand and a holier-than-thou attitude in the other. I’ve always wanted to write something in the vein of Red Dwarf or Farscape.┬áCaptain Picard is larger than life, more of an Idea than a Man. Dave Lister, by contrast, just wants to “bum around and have a laugh.” I find that much more interesting and relatable.

Also, it makes it a hell of a lot easier to write jokes, and that’s all I know.
