Hah! Club, schmlub. I can do all those things — and more — from the comfort of my own home!

I’ve been fiddling around with InDesign, not so much in anticipation of collecting the strip into a book, but more in anticipation of anticipation of collecting the strip into a book. I’ve learned a few things. First, I remember more about layout from my old production assistant days than I realized. Second, pica is still a stupid unit of measurement. And third, layout is tedious, hard work that you should probably pay someone else to do.

That last point, though, seems the most important. Seriously, if you can, never do anything for yourself. Pay someone else to do it. They probably know what they’re doing, and if they don’t, at least you can blame them when it all goes pear shaped. I don’t care what anyone tells you, the ability to effortlessly deflect blame to someone else is the true key to happiness.
